Movie Monday – Ernest and Celestine

Movie Rating ♥♥ (5/5) Movie Trailer Posted below

We had a wonderful time in the screening room of the Cinema Salem.  This film was wonderful.  I loved the storybook drawing style animation.  It felt like I was watching a children’s book be read to me.  I enjoyed this film so much that I have pre-ordered it on iTunes.  The world of bears and the world of mice mimic each other so well.  They fear each other because that is what they are taught but in the end both world meet.  This movie is about reaching out to someone who isn’t the same as you and taking a risk of befriending them without passing judgement first.

Monday Movie Review – Rio 2

Movie Rating ♥♥♥ (5/5) Movie Trailer Posted below (I feel like it has been a long time since I saw a movie that was bad.)

This is a very cute movie.  We really enjoyed it.  Rio 2 had my little guy stopped in his tracks quite a few times.  He also danced to the party scenes.  I loved how it brings in topics like family and discrimination without being overly obvious. I have not seen the first Rio so I can not compare them.  I wonder if that would taint how wonderful I think this film was. The movie is as cute as the trailer.

Monday Movie Review – Captain America 2 – The Winter Soldier

Movie Rating ♥♥♥♥♥+ (5+/5) Movie Trailer Posted below

Marvel definitely rocked the sequel.  I am not usually a fan of sequels but this one went above and beyond.

I absolutely love the black ops outfit for Captain America.  Action from the start.  This movie delivers both a good plot and a fabulous action packed thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat.  I rate this one of the best movies of 2014.  Any movie to slow my toddler down long enough to stop, watch, and cheer for the good guys in the action scenes is a winner in my book.  It takes a lot for my little guy to stand still.  I also love the plot twists.  This movie is one of the best if not the best sequel I have ever seen.

Trailer does not do the movie justice!!

Monday Movie Review: Noah

Movie Rating ♥♥♥ (5/5) Movie Trailer Posted below

Sums up the beginning books of the bible. Noah is the last of Seth’s Bloodline.  Begging with him becoming a man and witnessing his father’s murder.  Flash forward to Noah being a father.  Really cool creatures and animals.  The stone creatures are fallen angels.  I can’t stop thinking about this movie I can’t wait to see it again.  The movie makes me want to re-read the story of Noah.

I really enjoyed this movie and highly recommend it to everyone.  I liked how there was room for both the people who believe in evolution and the people who believe in the biblical creation story to enjoy this movie.  It was well done and the CG was amazing.  I liked how the focus is on Noah but we get to see into the lives of his family as well.

The trailer doesn’t even come close to the awesomeness of this film, enjoy.

**UPDATE**

I just watched a blog post from Renard Moreau that really put the questions I had about the story of Noah in place.  Check it out if you have time.  I like how he discusses the Illuminati and Gnostic connections.  it really made the meaning of the movie a little more clear.  It is an interesting piece – click here → Illuminati Gnostic Secrets Revealed

Monday Movie Review – Mr. Peabody and Sherman

Mr. Peabody and Sherman

Movie Rating ♥♥♥♥ (4/5) Movie Trailer Posted below

This movie was very cute and my toddler seemed to really enjoy it.  It did drag in parts.  As a Rocky and Bullwinkle fan from my younger years I had high expectations for this movie.  I do like how they kept the basic fundamentals of the original shorts by Jay Ward.  I did like how they defined the relationship between Mr. Peabody and Sherman in the film.  It is entertaining and all round makes for a wonderful family film.  This is one I look forward to adding to our movie collection.

If you haven’t seen it yet, run out and see it, don’t wait for Redbox to get this one!!

Enjoy the trailer.

Next weeks Film – The new Muppet movie…

Monday Movie Review – King PINGU

King PINGU

Movie Rating ♥♥♥♥♥ (5/5) Movie Trailer Posted below.

Pingu films are made for toddlers between 2-4 years old. It is a well done claymation series. My son, who just turned 2, loves Pingu. It is important to know that there is no “real” language in the film. It is a language complete developed for the film series. It teaches the value of family and friends and how one little penguin can manage to get into trouble yet somehow always make things right by thinking about what he did. He also sparks creativity by showing him building and creating things. Before my son could say words he was making the “nock nock” sound that Pingu makes for everything. We have been watching all the Pingu films that are on netflix and when those started to get old we turned to YouTube. And what to you know there are oodles of Pingu films from around the world.

King Pingu has been the only one he requests to watch for the last few days. When he gets over tired I can turn on Pingu, cuddle up with my little guy on the couch and he will calm right down. His eyes get heavy and it is off to bed.

Thank you Netfilx for adding even more Pingu to your library. I wish they would set up playlists so I could program them to play sequentially with out having to search and wait for the to load. LOL. That is how much my LO loves Pingu.

Monday Movie Review – The Best Offer

The Best Offer

Movie Rating ♥♥♥♥ (4/5) Movie Trailer Posted below.

This movie is deep. I love the twists and turns this movie takes. Virgil is a has a phobia of germs. Clair is a woman with agoraphobia. It is a love story with thick plots. One day when Virgil stops by to bring her a gift she is gone and he can’t find her. That puts him at a disarray. He is an auctioneer and off his game while worried something has happened to her. He is distraught over her being missing. He ends up finding her locked in a secret room in the attic. But the ending is one I would never have expected. There were a few points that dragged or seemed like they were in needed scenes.

Monday Movie Review – Her

Her

Movie Rating ♥♥♥♥ (4/5) Movie Trailer Posted below.

OS1 interesting AI computer operating system(OS). A touching film about a man and his computer. I am very impressed with how real the movie feels. Like peaking into someone’s life. OS1 aka Samantha, as she names herself, becomes more than an OS to him. It becomes more of a love affair. There are parts of the film that are borderline soft porn.
Overall the movie is funny and very sad. Sad because he was so heartbroken over the break up of his marriage that he didn’t feel able to connect to another human. He open up to “Samantha” and she helps him to see that “the past is just a story we keep telling ourself” What I found most interesting is that he writes for a custom love letter company.

Thank you Cinema Salem for a lovely Baby & Me movie.

Enjoy the movie trailer

Monday Movie Review – The Lego Movie

Thank you Cinema Salem, Salem Ma, for having The Lego Movie as the Baby and Me show this week.

Movie Rating ♥♥♥♥♥ (5/5) Movie Trailer Posted below.

The Lego Movie was better than I was expecting it to be.  My toddler was too busy running and flirting with the other 2 toddler girls that were there.  I was impressed with how the story keeps moving and I didn’t get bored.  I like how President Lincoln has a cameo, it was fun.  The main song “everything is awesome” is so catchy.  It is a feel good movie great for kids of all ages.  The ending was a complete surprise.  I wasn’t expecting such a great ending.

I absolutely LOVED this movie and it is on my MUST BUY as soon as it is released!!

** Because of the holiday week there might not be a Baby and Me show.  If that is the case I will review a Red Box Film.

Get A Horse. A Mickey and Minnie Classic film mixed with present day animation. Super fun!! Mix of Classic Mickey music and some current beats mixed in.

Mr Hublot a French animation. Very realistic looking. A well done futuristic Steampunk short. No words yet the scenes capture the life of a OCD robot in first person and his relationship with a stray dog.  My Little Guy loved the robot dog and woofed at the screen.

Feral. Silent film about wolves and a child in the woods.  This short has a range of emotions from happy to sad and a little heartbreaking.

Possessions Classic Japanese animation with English subtitles. I would like to see a full length film by this creator.  My little guy stood still and watched the movie.  Each realm is stranger than the one before.  Teaches if you show respect for others things good things will befall on you.

Room on the Broom animation from the UK. Has a claymation feel to it. Very fun and upbeat short with a flair for the dramatic. It shows the value of teamwork.

The missing Scarf animation from Ireland narrated by George Takei. Cute, like an animated storybook. A good message about try and try again, practice makes perfect. And a pleasant message about not being hindered by fears. Also includes a short lesson of the ways of the universe.

Blue Umbrella One of my favorite shorts by Pixar about rain and umbrella love.  very adorable!!  I could watch this on repeat.

** NEXT WEEK – The Lego Movie **
